Biographies

At the time of its existence, 23 artists belonged to the artists’ colony on the Mathildenhöhe, founded by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig and the publisher Alexander Koch. The work of these members and other important people involved in Darmstadt between 1898 and 1914 also had a major impact on subsequent developments in art and architecture that went far beyond the events on the Mathildenhöhe.
